Pick 12: Houston Rockets
Selection: Jeremy Lamb

Bryan Rosa – A Royal Pain

With Kevin Martin in the final season of his contract, the Rockets will be in need of high quality two and that’s exactly what Lamb is. With great size for an off-guard, explosiveness and an ability to score from most spots on the floor, Lamb will have a solid career once he gets his body NBA ready. He’s a solid fit for the Rockets, who have a few more picks to get the needed big they covet.

Jack Winter-Saving the Skyhook

Lamb is great value here because of his natural scoring instincts, and could emerge as a huge trade chip should he begin the season with the Rockets and put up big numbers. He needs to get stronger, work harder defensively, and become more engaged overall, but getting a player with his offensive prowess this late is a nice coup for Houston. It will be interesting to see how long he remains a Rocket.

Well, they didn’t move up, so it doesn’t look like they’ll be courting Dwight Howard much longer. But, they also don’t want to bring three rookies into camp this offseason. They would’ve loved Andre Drummond, and they would’ve liked Meyers Leonard. Instead of going big, though, they drafted a good offensive player in Lamb who has a knack for getting off his shot. Lamb will fit right in with Houston and he’ll see extended playing time this season. I think the Rockets made the best pick they could have given the players that were already off the board.

Given the Samuel Dalembert trade and their relentless pursuit of Dwight Howard, it would appear that Houston would select a big man if they stood pat. Tyler Zeller fell to the Rockets in a lot of mock drafts. I don’t think this is a great need pick considering they still have Kevin Martin though he may be even more expendable with Lamb on the roster. I think Houston is up to something here.
