After injuring his knee and requiring surgery to repair it, Adrian Peterson may be finally ready to make his 2012 Minnesota Vikings debut. Sources tell Fansided that Adrian Peterson will be activated off the physically unable to perform list by the Vikings tomorrow.

There is no word from the Vikings on whether or not Peterson will suit up for their second preseason game, but the fact that Peterson is going to be starting to absorb some sort of contact is encouraging to Vikings fans.

Peterson hasn’t played a down in a game or practice since tearing his MCL in the final week of last year’s season for the Vikings against the Redskins.

The All-Pro back vowed to be better than ever in 2012 and even promised he’d be ready to go on opening day and so far, he’s holding true to that word. Peterson was involved in a altercation with Houston police last month in which he refused arrest after being asked to leave a club that had closed. A court date was set for Peterson last week but the incident isn’t expected to hurt his playing time.

Instead the Vikings major concern is Peterson’s knees. In the world of basketball, the Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose tore his ACL, which many fear will effect his ability to torque his body to make plays.

Vikings fans have that same fear with Peterson who made $100 million last year thanks to his ability to dip, dive and dash away from defenders. Peterson also has the ability to just never ever stop moving his legs in a pile which allows him to regularly break free at the line of scrimmage. The injury to his knee casts a cloud of doubt over whether Peterson will be the same guy.

We will begin to find out what kind of back Peterson will be when he’s activated tomorrow by the Vikings.
