NFL Fed Ex Air and Ground Players of the Week Nominees

The first week of the 2012 NFL regular season is in the books and there were a handful of performances that jumped off the page. Those performances have earned six players nominations to be named the Fed Ex Air or Ground player of the week for week 1. What is a Fed Ex Air and Ground Player of the Week?

The three nominees for Air Player of the Week are three passers from the NFC Robert Griffin III, Tony Romo and Matt Ryan.
RG3 lit up the New Orleans Saints for 320 yards and three touchdowns in his NFL debut, Romo launched 307 yards and three touchdowns against the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants and Ryan came up just short of three-hundred yards passing for 299 yards and three touchdowns in a blowout win over the Chiefs.
Nominees for the Ground Player of the Week are Frank Gore, Stevan Ridley and CJ Spiller.
Gore was a big part of the 49ers dominating win over the Green Bay Packers rushing for 112 yards and a touchdown. Stevan Ridley came up in a big way for the Patriots against the Tennessee Titans racking up 125 yards and a score and CJ Spiller finally had a breakout game over the New York Jets coming up with 169 yards and a touchdown.
