Fantasy Golf Picks-Tour Championship

The PGA Tour concludes its regular season and the FedEx Cup playoffs with the Tour Championship presented by Coca-Cola. For the tenth year in a row, the event will be held at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. It’s a different feel to the tournament than a regular format since only the top 30 in the standing make this cutless event. It should be a great weekend of golf though with plenty of drama as the season comes to a close.
In our FantasyCPR group, it’s sad to see such a fun season come to an end, but you can be sure the league will be back in January after a few months off. Maybe we can all go to Hawaii like the tour will to start things back up in a few months. As we enter the last week of the last segment, only 65 points separate first from seventh (that’s my entry) but there probably won’t be too much change since many picks will overlap. Right now it’s TXRunner out in front of the Summer segment with MT Cup just four points ahead in the overall standings with Ty Webb right on his heels. That’s just two strokes difference over an entire season!
East Lake is an awesome course right down to it’s finishing par-3. There won’t be many birdies over the last few holes and the players who can bring it home with par-par-par is probably going to actually make up strokes. Here’s who I like to be holding the trophy on Sunday:
A-list

Phil Mickelson-Mickelson has back to back top five finishes coming into East Lake where he’s won twice in 2000 and 2009. He’s fourth in the FedEx cup standings coming into the tournament.
Adam Scott- Scott has been in the top 10 the last two tournaments and finished t6 at East Lake last year after leading after round two. Scott won this event in 2006.
B-List
Tiger Woods- Tiger has been back on a roll lately and if you’ve managed to keep a Tiger start make sure to play it here where he won in 2007 and finished runner-up four times. He’s been in the top five the last two tournaments.
Rory McIlroy- McIlroy is too good to leave out of your lineup if you’ve managed to save a start until now. I’m using my last one here where Rory is making his debut. He’s won three of his last four tournaments and will look to finish the season with back-to-back-to-back tournament wins.
Dustin Johnson- DJ is the only golfer in the field with top tens in all three playoff events. He doesn’t have the history here of some choices, but I’m not leaving him off my card with one start left for the season.
Bubba Watson- Bubba is a bit of a flier here without a top 15 in his three appearances here and only one top ten since June. I think the former-Georgia Bulldog has a shot though if he can get things rolling to take the tournament. There’s lots of good options in the B-list, but I’ll go with a pick that not everyone else will have so if he contends I’ll make up some ground.

C-List
Louis Oosthuizen- Another first-timer, Oosty comes in with seven top 25’s in a row and a solo second at TPC Boston two tournaments ago. I think he’ll be on the leaderboard Sunday, so I’ll start him over the sure-to-be-popular pick of Dufner. There are only six from this list who made it this far in the playoffs.
Jason Dufner- Dufner has broken out on Tour this year and he’s a great fit for the course here. He hasn’t done much in the playoffs yet, but could contend this weekend.
