It’s the middle of the night, you’re trying to fall asleep while struggling between watching garbage infomercials for knives and juicers or a late night block of Jerry Springer, Maury and the Steve Wilkos Show. Then, out of nowhere, it happens: Sarah McLaughlin appears on your TV with the image of a sickly looking dog flashing you puppy eyes.

We’ve all seen the animal rescue commercial a million times, but now thanks to some cleaver editing from the folks over at Ballerball, McLaughlin has shifted her focus from finding a safe home for abused animals to finding a safe home for an abused 7-foot Spaniard.

The Lakers are now an unimpressive 15-18, and are coming off a home loss to the Denver Nuggets. But one a common thread of drama has proven to be the Pau Gasol saga, and the will they, won’t they stance on trading the long time Lakers forward. The fate of Kobe’s side kick has been up in the air for sometime now, and it’s getting to (clearly) comical proportions.

When the Lakers were still flirting with a respectable record, the focus of the drama was on Gasol’s plight, but now that so many things are going wrong in Los Angeles, Gasol has been lost in the shuffle.

The NBA trade deadline is February 21st, meaning the Lakers have until then to figure things out or trade Gasol. Los Angeles has had plenty of opportunities to trade Gasol up to this point and will likely be presented with plenty more between now and the deadline.
