Fantasy Basketball Sleepers-Box Score Breakouts, February 5

Last night in the NBA, The Clippers stumbled into Washington last night and stumbled out with a surprising loss while the Thunder, Heat, and Knicks all won games they were expected to. Trying to avoid being completely upstaged by their in-state college team, the Indiana Pacers continued their dominance at home and moved into a share of the Central lead.

There were some surprising fantasy contributors as well from last night’s action as you can see from today’s Box Score Breakouts (archive here). These players make nice additions if you need a boost for your fantasy hoops team for short and/or long-term future.

Spencer Hawes-Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers lineup has transformed with the addition of Hawes and Nick Young and could again with the impending arrival of Andrew Bynum. Hawes is making a case for a continued role though with over 10 points in each of his last three games highlighted by his 21 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, and a block last night against the Magic. Hawes has started the last five and has averaged 11.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 blocks. Hawes is available in 60% of leagues and his long-term ceiling may be limited by Bynum’s return. That’s change though isn’t extremely soon though, so Hawes can help you in the meantime.

Martell Webster-Washington Wizards

Last night Webster led the Wizards past the Clippers 98-90 with a team-high 21 points to go with five rebounds, three assists, and a steal while hitting five of six from deep. Webster has multiple three-pointers now in eight of his last nine and has scored 14 or more in four of his last five and seven of his last nine. He’s still just owned in 7.6% of leagues con contribute if you need three-pointers and points.

Randy Foye-Utah Jazz

Foye poured in 20 points and six assists last night against the Kings and has averaged 16.6 points in his last five games. He’s hit three or more three’s and dished three or more assists in each of his last four and continues to play solid minutes with good numbers for Utah. He’s available right now in over 80% of ESPN leagues and can provide assists, three’s, and points if that’s what your after on the wire.

E’Twaun Moore-Orlando Magic

The Magic have been demolished by injuries, but someone has to step up and get some fantasy stats. Last night it was Moore who played 37 minutes while finishing with 18 points, three rebounds, a pair of assists, and a steal. If Jameer Nelson, J.J. Redick, and Aaron Afflalo all remain sidelined, Moore should get some good time and is actually their leading scoring option from outside. He’s owned in under 3% of ESPN leagues but could have some short-term value if you need a bargain pickup or play.
