Last night the NBA took a bit of a back seat to the insanity that has become quite the college basketball season. So if you spent the night storming the court, celebrating long-distance, or drowning the sorrow of your college team, let FantasyCPR catch you up on the player from yesterday’s five NBA games who are stepping up in the box score and standing out for the fantasy owners.

Many of these players are on the waiver wire, so if you need to make a move these guys are a great place to start. Also, check out our Top 10 fantasy basketball additions for the second half and our archive.

Here’s the players who are emerging after big games last night:

Jason Thompson-Sacramento Kings

One of the more underrated Kings, Thompson had his second solid night in a row last night finishing with 21 points, seven rebounds, a block, and a steal. He had an even better night on Monday as he poured in 23 to go with 10 boards after DeMarcus Cousins ejection. He’s owned in less than 20% of leagues and had played a decreasing role before these last two games. Thompson could have serious value in multiple categories if he plays the minutes going forward. He’s worth keeping an eye on heading into the second half since he does have the ability to put up some solid stat lines.

Alonzo Gee-Cleveland Cavaliers

Gee had disappeared from the Cavs offensively but was back with a bang last night hitting all eight of his shots from the field including three from long-distance. He’s been playing plenty of minutes but his focus has been defensive so far this season. He’s averaging over 1.5 steals pre game on the year and has five in his last two games. He would be a valuable addition if he can start getting some offense going as well so see if Gee is right for you if you’re in one of the 80% of leagues he’s available in.

Lavoy Allen-Philadelphia 76ers

6’9″ power forwards owned in just 0.1% of fantasy basketball leagues normally don’t pull in 22 rebounds, but that’s what Allen did last night against Charlotte as he saw a minutes-bump due to the injury to Thaddeus Young. Allen has scored double-digit points in four of his last five and is averaging 9.6 boards over that span after his 14-point, 22-rebound performance last night. With Young out and the Sixers in need of energy, Allen could carve himself a nice niche in the young Phily offense if he can give the hustle stats like he did last night.

Samuel Dalembert-Milwaukee Bucks

With Larry Sanders still sidelined, Dalembert has been solid since his 35 point explosion in Denver on Tuesday. Last night he hat 14 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocks. Even if you discout his monster game as an anomaly he’s had 24 points, 23 rebounds, nine blocks, and six steals in his last two games. Depending on what the Bucks do with Sam-Dale, he could be a great big man pickup. Rumors are he’s available in a trade and in the right situation he could be fantasy gold, so keep an eye on his situation since he’s available in almost 75% of leagues.

Marcus Thornton-Sacramento Kings

Long-suffering Thornton owners who have held on to him through his injury and lack of productivity were rewarded last night as he scored 24 points off the Kings bench while adding a pair of assists and a rebound. Thornton can score in bunches, but he hasn’t performed consistently for Sacramento since early in the season. He’s now owned in just 37.1% of ESPN leagues and would be a great addition if his role and abilities allow him to return to his previous level.

Byron Mullens-Charlotte Bobcats

Mullens wasn’t great last night finishing with 16 points and just three rebounds, a block, and a steal. It’s still worth noting he’s back from injury, though, and is currently available in 43% of leagues. He’s a double-double threat and Charlotte needs someone to score so expect him to take plenty of shots almost every night.

Alec Burks-Utah Jazz

Burks role on the Jazz is all that appears to be holding him back. Whenever the former-Colorado Buffalo gets a chance, he shows off some tantalizing potential. Last night he had a season-high 24 points with a block, an assist, and three rebounds. While Gordon Hayward is out with his shoulder injury, Burks makes a nice bargain pickup since he’s universally available and playing some solid minutes for Utah.

Charlie Villanueva-Detroit Pistons

Another player filling in for an injured teammate is Charlie Villanueva. With Andre Drummond out with a back issue Villanueva has filled in with 39 points and 21 rebounds in two games. Yesterday he had 18 poitns and 13 boards in just 25 minutes while stroking four three-pointers and adding an assist and a block. Villaneuva hadn’t been much of a factor yet this season, so wait to see if he can get the playing time to make him worth a look. He’s currently owned in just 0.2% of ESPN leagues.
