Former LSU Tigers defensive back Tyrann Mathieu was hoping to use the opportunity he was presented at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine to impress NFL scouts and show that he has been working hard to improve as a player, despite spending the entire season on the sidelines after being booted from the LSU football program.

Unfortunately for Mathieu, his time in Indianapolis is off to a rough start.

Mathieu started off the combine by measuring in at only 5-foot-9 and he was disappointing once again when he took to the bench press. “The Honey Badger” managed to put up only four reps of 225-pounds on the bench.

The poor number shows that Mathieu has not been working out in the weight room and he was not at all prepared for the test at the combine. For a player that is facing an uphill battle and trying to wow talent evaluators, this is not the impression he was looking to make.

Mathieu is likely to disappoint at the combine again on Monday when he has to run the 40-yard dash. Expect a time in the mid 4.5’s for Mathieu, which is anything but stellar.

Hopefully Mathieu can get it together and find a way to live up to his potential, but he has a lot of work to do and his combine is not going the way he had hoped.
