Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha is current;y trying to save as much money as he can while the Eagles chip away at his $15 million base salary for 2013. But at a time when Asomugha’s contract could be ripped up, a reports has surfaced that paints the cornerback as aloof. According to Hollis Thomas of 94WIP in Philadelphia, Asomugha used to eat his lunches alone in his car so he could get away from his teammates.

"Nnamdi Asomugha used to eat lunch in his car during Eagles practices, 94WIP’s Hollis Thomas reported on Tuesday. Instead of eating with his teammates, Asomugha used to eat lunch, by himself, in his car at the Novacare complex to get some “me time” during the 2012 season sources told Thomas.–CBS Philly"

It’s interesting that this story is coming out now. since Asomugha’s future with the Eagles is already in flux. But if he’s as cold and distant as the report says he is, it’s hard to believe the Eagles will be bending over backwards to get him to stay in Philly.

The Eagles are prepared to cut Asomugha if they can’t get his salary for the 2013 season well below the $15 million it’s at right now and Asomugha’s play alone the last few years is all the justification the Eagles need to be in the position they’re in now with the cornerback. Add Asomugha’s anti-social tactics into the mix and it’s looking less and less likely that the two sides will agree on a salary reduction.
