With the MLS getting back in action today, it’s time to get your fantasy soccer fix in a league hosted by FanSided’s own American soccer site The American Pitch. Whether you’re a die-hard soccer fan or just looking for another fun fantasy sport to play, the MLS Fantasy Soccer Manager is a simple and fun way to follow all the action.

It’s a fairly simple setup as each player chooses two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders, and three forwards to make up your team. There are limits to how many players you can have from a given team on your roster as well. Each player has been assigned a dollar amount, and its a basic salary cap format. Player values will change throughout the season.

The scoring is fairly straightforward for playing time, goals, goals conceded, cards, saves, and penalty kicks. There’s also some attacking bonuses for crosses, key passes, big chances, and a penalty for missing a big chance. On defense clearances, blocks, interceptions, and recoveries earn you bonuses while errors leading to goals cost you points. The only other trick to scoring is the selection of a “Captain” whose score is doubled. You also get to pick a Vice-Captain who fills in as the double-scorer if your captain doesn’t play.

You’re limited in the number of free transfers you can make after things lock down today so make sure you choose your initial team wisely.
