The NFL Franchise Tag Deadline is nearly upon us and teams only have until 4:00 p.m. ET on Monday afternoon to determine whether or not they will use the tag to designate a franchise player.

To this point, only five players have received the tag, but there are a few more expected to be announced tomorrow.

One player that is expected to receive the franchise tag is Tennessee Titans tight end Jared Cook, but there is also a growing belief that the Texans could end up using their tag on strong safety Glover Quin. The Texans previously announced re-signing Quin is an offseason priority, so they can assure he returns for at least one more season if a long-term deal is not reached.

Per ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio:

"There’s persistent buzz that the Texans will tag safety Glover Quin, or no one."

The safety franchise tag carries a $6.916 million price this season.

There have not been any rumors of how Quin and the Texan’s contract negotiations are going, but the silence could be viewed as a positive since neither side is using the media to influence the talks.

Time is running out on negotiations, so don’t be surprised if Quin is hit with the franchise tag at tomorrow’s deadline.
