The NFL Free Agency rumors are in full swing. It was within the past 24 hours that we had seen reports of wide receiver Wes Welker and the New England Patriots closing in on a deal and now that is already changing. Talks haven’t gone as well as the two sides had hoped and a long-term deal is now unlikely before the start of the new league year on March 12.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is going as far as to say Welker has no plans to re-sign in New England before free agency:

You have to understand Welker’s stance.

The Patriots haven’t shown any dedication to their valuable slot receiver and he has every right to hit the open market. If someone is willing to open up the check book for an aging, limited receiver, then Welker should immediately jump on the opportunity to get paid.
