Late on Sunday night, CSN Philly reported that the Philadelphia Eagles were interested in signing Danny Amendola but as we all wake up on Monday, it’s appearing as though if you ask Les Bowen, that report isn’t just misguided but it’s flat out wrong. Bowen reported on Monday morning that he respects his fellow Eagles beat writers, but he’s not hearing that the team is at all interested in Amendola’s services.

The most interesting thing about this ordeal is that the Eagles beat writers are even closed off to the inner-workings of what the Eagles are thinking in free agency. Bowen’s report only muddles the water when it comes to figuring out  where the Eagles will spend their money this offseason, but it doesn’t confirm or deny the fact that the Eagles are or aren’t interested in Amendola.

As was pointed out last night, the Eagles have five receivers on their roster that Amendola would have to fight for playing time. The belief is that he wouldn’t beat out DeSean Jackson as the No. 1 target but he could emerge as a No. 2 threat or a slot target who sees regular action.

The Eagles could use Amendola’s services, but it’s clear from the conflicting reports that the Eagles aren’t going to come running out of the gates to sign him, but that’s not something we didn’t already know.
