Detroit Lions free agent defensive end Cliff Avril is the cream of the crop in this year’s class of pass rushers. Avril is one of the few free agents that could break the bank this year and there are a few teams lining up to enter the bidding war.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been named as a potential suitor for Avril, but the Indianapolis Colts are the favorites. Per Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun:

It would be a great fit for the Colts, who cut ties with Dwight Freeney, who is likely heading to the Denver Broncos. Teams that run a 3-4 defense have been drooling over Avril’s potential as an outside linebacker in the scheme and the Colts could have the opportunity to enjoy his skill set first hand.
