Alex Smith to the Hall of Fame? Andy Reid Wants To Get Him There
By Josh Sanchez
Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith was officially introduced as the Kansas City Chiefs new starting quarterback on Wednesday during the introductory press conference. As you would expect, with head coach Andy Reid behind the mic, there was a brilliant sound bite from Reid about the future of Smith.
Reid was asked by the media if he had found the next Len Dawson, which was a reference to his own introductory presser in Kansas City. Reid took a moment to gather himself through the chuckles in the room and delivered an entertaining comment that drew laughter from the crowd, but could be over analyzed and criticized for those that do not see the quote in it’s correct context.

What did Reid have to say whether he had the next Len Dawson on his hands?
“Well, listen. Len Dawson’s sitting right here. Len Dawson’s in the Hall of Fame (laughter),” Reid said, per our friends at Arrowhead Addict. “We’re gonna work on getting Alex into the Hall of Fame.”
Excellent job, Andy Reid.
You have to love a coach that knows how to play along with the media and troll them at the same time.
Will Alex Smith make the Hall of Fame? He would have to have historically great years to finish off his career, but at least he has the respect of his head coach and will be starting off his time with the Chiefs as the team’s starting quarterback.
