Let the run on free agent running backs begin. Just minutes after it was reported that the Detroit Lions and Reggie Bush had agreed to a deal, the Arizona Cardinals made a move and came to terms on a one-year contract with former Pittsburgh Steelers rusher Rashard Mendenhall. The former first-round pick will be reunited with Bruce Arians in Arizona.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

The Cardinals initially had their attention on Bush, but when it became more likely that he would sign in Detroit, the Cardinals focused on Mendenhall.

It looks like the Denver Broncos, who are in the running back market, will now have to look at their third option. Perhaps Michael Turner or Steven Jackson could get a look in the Mile High City.
