New England Patriots May Still Be Pursuing Josh Cribbs
By Josh Hill
Reports surfaced late Wednesday night that former Cleveland Browns return ace Josh Cribbs was signing a deal with the Arizona Cardinals, but those reports have proved to either be premature or erroneous. According to Kent Somers of azcentral.com, the Cardinals have not agreed to terms with Cribbs and he is not, as of this moment, a member of the Arizona Cardinals.
The interest the Cardinals have in Cribbs hasn’t been denied, but while they haven’t yet signed him to a contract, the chance still remains that Cribbs will sign elsewhere before the free agent dust settles. Somers is apparently getting “the vibe” that Cribbs is looking at other deals that may or may not be on the table for him and that Cribbs in Arizona is far from being the done deal it was reported as being.
Many are starting to believe that the New England Patriots are re-entering the discussion and may sign Cribbs to a deal before the Cardinals land him officially. New England is still in need of a return man and they haven’t yet reached a deal with former return man Julian Edelman. The idea of Cribbs joining the Patriots is one that has been floating around for a while now, as the always spot on Mary Kay Cabot from the Cleveland Plain Dealer believed a few days ago that Cribbs would be choosing between the Patriots and Cardinals.
That seemingly hasn’t changed at all, but Cribbs decision may come soon. He’s apparently met with the Cardinals and if the patriots have talked to him as well, he knows all he needs to in order to make a decision on where to play. Unless a dark horse team enters the discussion, Cribbs is landing in either New England or Arizona but one thing is certain: Josh Cribbs has not signed a contract to play anywhere — yet.
