When the St. Louis Rams made the move to sign free agent offensive tackle Jake Long, there were some questions regarding the future of current tackle Rodger Saffold. There were initial reports that Saffold would seek a trade if Long joined the roster, but those talks have seemed to die down. And in case there were any rumblings of a potential trade still out there, the Rams wanted to make it clear that Saffold is hear to stay.

According to Dan Pompei of The National Football Post, the Rams have no interest in parting ways with Saffold.

Saffold showed that he had a change in heart about his future with the team when he decided to join the Rams for voluntary work outs last week.

After acquiring Long, the Rams moved Saffold over to play right tackle. The Long – Saffold duo gives the Rams offensive line very respectable bookends. Long was a former No. 1 overall pick, while Saffold was a 35-game starter at left tackle for the Rams. Together they will work to keep Sam Bradford off his back.
