The Arizona Cardinals traded for former Oakland Raiders and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer earlier this offseason and now they have made another move at the position.  Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com reported that the Cardinals have placed Brian Hoyer on waivers.

Hoyer would have been the teams third-string quarterback behind Palmer and Drew Stanton this season, but his $2 million price tag was too much for a player who would be buried on the roster.

It is expected that Hoyer will go unclaimed on the waiver wire. However, once Hoyer is an unrestricted free agent we could see a different story.

Hoyer will join a free agent quarterback class that includes Tyler Thigpen and Tim Tebow. Out of the available signal-callers, Hoyer is clearly the best of the bunch. It would be surprising if he doesn’t get some action in free agency, especially when you look at the other options for teams looking for a quarterback.

It will be interesting to see what happens if/when he clears the waiver wire. Hoyer will be a name to watch.
