The Indiana Pacers pulled off a win they needed to have in Game 6 but it wasn’t an easy win. For one particular player, the win was especially tough as Pacers forward David West reportedly played the game with a 103 degree temperature and ended up playing a major role in getting his team the win they needed to get in order to force Game 7.

Pacers fans can now compare West’s game to Michael Jordan’s  Flu Game, despite the fact they differ in so many ways. For starters, the Chicago Bulls were led by Jordan during the Flu Game while West just factored into the win. But while he wasn’t the sole leader on Saturday night, David West’s production helped get the Pacers into the game and keep them there as his work in the paint was even more impressive given the circumstances we now know he was playing under.

Most people can’t roll to the other side of the bed with a 103 degree temp, but West played 36 minutes and grabbed 14 boards while pitching in 11 huge points for Indiana in their 91-77 win over Miami.

The most impressive stat is probably the fact he last 36 minutes on the court without passing out. I can’t even work the remote correctly with a 100 degree temp, let alone hustle up and down a basketball court while still being productive to my team with an even high temp.

Indiana still needs to win Game 7, which would mean they’d have to win back-to-back games for the first time all series long. But if they pull off the win, David West’s Game 6 performance and the circumstances under which he performed will go down in NBA legend as it’s already stitched into the heritage of Indiana basketball.
