Gregg Popovich continues to troll the basketball world. And we love him for it. He is, for all intents and purposes, the Bill Belichick of the NBA. With his most recent act of ‘Popness’ coming at the expense of Daily Thunder’s Royce Young.

First of all, Popovich has been polishing his craft of ripping media members for decades. So don’t feel too bad, Royce. Second, this probably came after another one of the media’s classic “how are you slowing down Lebron James” questions. Which Pop has obviously been reluctant to answer. Like why the hell would the smartest coach in the NBA tell a reporter, on national television, how he’s successfully slowing down the greatest basketball player in the world …

Nevertheless, it’s always going to take a lot more creativity to get a valid response out of Popovich. If he think you’re fishing for a story, he’ll shut it down. Much like Kawhi Leonard has shut down James for the first three games of the NBA Finals.

Leonard is currently averaging 11.0 points and 12.0 rebounds against the Heat so far. He’s also successfully shutting down James. So I think it’s safe to say is confidence is fairly high. Just a hunch though.
