It seems we finally have resolution in the ongoing Doc Rivers saga with the Boston Celtics. After two weeks of flirting with each other, Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the Boston Celtics have agreed to receive an unprotected 2015 first-round draft pick in exchange for shipping Doc Rivers out to the Los Angeles Clippers.

This is a massive shift from where talks were entering the weekend but it jives with a report that the Celtics were planning on having a decision on Rivers future by Monday. That appears to be happening as Rivers seems to be on his way out to the Clippers.

One of the motivating factors in all of this has been Chris Paul’s unhappiness with the way initial talks were going. It was widely reported that he was less than pleased when the Clippers failed to get Rivers the first time around which likely gave them a little extra kick to go out and make one more run at him. A contract still needs to be hammered out but it appears that once that is done, Doc Rivers will become the next head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers.
