The Oklahoma City Thunder were desperately trying to move up in the draft and breach the lottery picks in order to grab a big time prospect. They weren’t able to do this but the Thunder did manage to move around and ended up trading the 29th pick to the Golden State Warriors who themselves were scrambling to get a first round pick.

So with the 29th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, the Oklahoma City Thunder selected Archie Goodwin who will be traded immediately to the Golden State Warriors and then flipped to the Phoenix Suns

A year ago nobody was really sure where Golden State played their home games but after a year of Stephen Curry and company making a deep run in the Western Conference playoffs, everyone has eyes on Oakland in 2013-14 and Archie Goodwin is getting on the ride at the right time. The Warriors traded into the first-round as they didn’t previously have a selection in the round, but they managed to pull off a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves before trading the pick to the Thunder.

Golden State actually bought the pick from the Timberwolves and then got draft assets in return from Oklahoma City. They then again moved back to the 30th overall spot after striking a deal with the Phoenix Suns.

But while he’s going to Phoenix, Archie Goodwin is coming to a team that is rebuilding and can use a young talent like him to add to the mix and get better for the future not unlike the way the Warriors grew their contending team.
