There is no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers are in need of finding players to step up and replace the veteran talent that they have been losing from their roster. Pittsburgh needs an injection of youth, so they are counting on a number of players to step in to larger roles this season.

One of those players, while he may have some experience under his belt, is linebacker Lawrence Timmons.

Timmons has been a very solid player for the Steelers during his time in the Steel City, but he has not had any big breakout moments. That is what the team is waiting for. This season could be his chance to finally make that mark on the team.

“I look at myself as a game-changer, and I try to make that a facet of my game,” Timmons said. “I look forward to those opportunities, because I want to live up to those expectations. … I have to assert myself in a certain way. I don’t feel as if I have to force anything. I just have to play my game.”

If Timmons can step up, he is the type of player that the team can build their defensive unit around.

Star linebackers are a big part of the Pittsburgh tradition, so Timmons can hope that he will be the next one in line if he can step in to the bigger role and find some success.
