Long time Boston Celtics franchise player is putting on another uniform for the first time in his career after being traded to the Brooklyn Nets. But the Nets are looking at winning a NBA Championship sooner than later after assembling a lot of quality veteran players.

At least Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov says it better be sooner than later.

But Paul Pierce is focused on helping the Brooklyn Nets get over the hump and chase a NBA Title.

“I’m no longer a Boston Celtic, I’m a Brooklyn Net, and that’s the way it is right now,” Pierce said, via the New York Daily News. “I’m here trying to create some kind of legacy here in Brooklyn.”

The Eastern Conference has a lot of the top NBA teams in the league. But it’s been ruled by the Miami Heat, the back-to-back champions.

“We’re going to be right up there with the best of them,” Pierce said. “I mean, right now you talk about Miami, obviously, they’re the champs. You look at what Chicago is doing. Indiana. And then I think you’ve really gotta take a close look at what we’ve been able to put together.”

“We’re not talking about Eastern Conference Finals, we’re not talking about best record,” Pierce said. “We’re talking about championship here, and that’s what the expectation is when you put together a unit like this.”
