The Philadelphia Eagles have waived running back William Powell on Friday after he failed his physical. The team claimed Powell off of waivers from the Arizona Cardinals just days ago. He was the Cardinals third-leading rusher in 2012, but his services are once again available.

The news was much better for rookie punter Brad Wing and rookie running back Matthew Tucker, however.

More from Eagles Insider on Twitter:

Wing could very well emerge from camp as the Eagles starting punter if he can out boot veteran Donnie Jones. As for Tucker, he has a much harder job at making the roster as a back up because of the Eagles impressive depth at the position.

At least the two rookies are getting a chance to prove what they can do and earn a role on the team, which is all that you can ask for.

That is part of what makes training camp so great. Players have the ability to come out and prove themselves and on some occasions we get unheralded stars emerging from the shadows.
