Dan Haren held the Mets to just one run through 7 innings today to earn his 5th win of the season.

The right handed veteran had very little trouble getting through the Mets line up, allowing just 3 hits and one walk with 6 strike outs. He has been very inconsistent this season and has an ERA of 5.49, but today was a decent outing. His next start will be against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Ian Desmond and Denard Span hit back to back home runs in the bottom of the 2nd. Desmond hit a line drive home run to center, his 16th on the year. Span hit his 1st home run of the season off Gee on a 90 MPH 2 seam fastball to right field.

Bryce Harper added a 2 run home run of his own off of Gee in the next inning, driving in pitcher Haren. It was Harper’s 15th long ball of the season.

Dillion Gee gave up 4 runs through 7 innings today. Gee enjoyed a fantastic July, but coughed up 3 home runs in back to back innings. He allowed a total of 6 hits, watching his ERA jump from 4.07 to 4.13. His next start will be against the Miami Marlins.

David Wright finished the day 2-4 with an RBI single for the Mets today. He provided the only run, driving in Eric Young in the 6th. He’s batting .306/.391/.508 with 51 RBI’s in 100 games this season.
