The Baltimore Ravens are looking to add a big time arm to their starting rotation as they are locked in a heated race atop the AL East and one of their potential is Chicago White Sox pithcer Jake Peavy. Along with Peavy, the team is looking at a number of top starters that could be available, but the White Sox ace is the most likely to be moved before the trade deadline.

From CBS Sports:

"Locked in a tough, tight AL East race, the Baltimore Orioles are in the mix for Jake Peavy and the other top pitchers on the trade market, sources said. The Orioles already acquired solid starter Scott Feldman from the Cubs but they are aiming even higher now. Peavy leads the list of starters very likely to be traded, and the Red Sox,Cardinals, A’s and Braves are believed to be pursuing him."

If the pursuit of Peavy falls through Kansas City’s Ervin Santana and Houston’s Bud Norris would be intriguing options for the Orioles.

There is also a slim chance that the team could try to make a move for Philadelphia Eagles pitcher Cliff Lee, but that sounds like the least likely option because of the cost.

It will be interesting to see if the Orioles are able to land a top starter before the end of the month or whether they will fall short, but one thing is for sure: you can’t fault them for giving it their best shot.
