Alabama has anti-gravity treadmill in new facility (Video)

What do you do whenever you are clearly the best team in the nation and above the rest of your competition? Well, try to defy gravity. That is exactly what the Alabama Crimson Tide will be doing as they introduced some anti-gravity treadmills in their new facility.

The program has used the technology in the past to help with the rehab of their players, but the media got a first look at the treadmill during a tour of the training room on Thursday by assistant athletics director for sports medicine Jeff Allen.

Apparently the anti-gravity treadmill “utilizes adjustable weight-bearing technology on a standard treadmill used primarily for rehabilitation of lower extremity injuries and athletic training.” The technology allows you to run on much less of your body weight as you rehab the injury.

One of these bad boys costs around $75,000.

The Tuscaloosa News’ Aaron Suttles tweeted out some images of the team’s high-tech equipment from the training room tour:

If you want to learn more about the anti-gravity treadmill, check out this video of Allen explaining the purpose for having the Alter G in the training room posted at the top of the page.
