Chicago Cubs make multiple roster moves

The morning after Donnie Murphy and the Chicago Cubs defeat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-2, the Cubbies have made some roster moves following injuries.

The first move, is sending recently claimed out fielder, former New York Yankee Thomas Neal to the disabled list Neal suffered his injury last night, after dislocating his right shoulder while making a throw in the seventh inning.

He was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Right handed pitcher Matt Guerrier was placed on the 15-day disabled last also. Guerrier flew from Philadelphia to Chicago today to visit team doctors. It sounds like he may be dealing with something serious, no word on what it is right now.

Taking their roster spots, will be Eduardo Sanchez, who was recently sent down, will get another shot with the big league club.

Sanchez allowed three hits and one earned run in three innings this season. The 24 year old right handed pitcher will get a role in middle relief.

The Cubs have purchased the contract of catcher J.C. Boscan from Triple-A Iowa. Dioner Navarro was taken out of the game after a collision at the plate with Chase Utley during last nights game. Boscan posted a rough .253/.318/.299 in 216 plate appearances.

The 33 year old catcher won’t see much action.

Navarro will have an MRI on his right ankle. Navarro was sent to the hospital last night, X-Rays turns up negative but the Cubs are worried he may have ligament damage.
