St. Louis Rams have three of NFC West’s six offseason drug suspensions
By Brian Spaen
Since the turn of the 2013 calendar year, there have been 18 total NFL players suspended under the league’s drug abuse and performance enhancing drug policies. One-third of that total is in just one division, and one team in that division holds half of them.
The St. Louis Rams lost Jo-Lonn Dunbar for four games after officially being suspended on Wednesday. That pits the team being guilty of three players using PEDs or having substance abuse under their watch.
Rokevious Watkins received a one-game ban back in May and has since been picked up by the Kansas City Chiefs after being let go. Isaiah Pead, who’s still with the Rams, received a one-game suspension days later.
Demarcus Dobbs with the San Francisco 49ers also received a one-game suspension today, which remains unlisted on the Wikipedia source.
Daryl Washington of the Arizona Cardinals received a four-game suspension back in April and the Seattle Seahawks’ Bruce Irvin got the same in May.
Mike Sando of ESPN had a full list of how much base salary is lost for each player in their contract, and teams “can reduce their chances for earning incentives.”
