The New England Patriots organization and their fans are holding their breath as they await an update on the severity of quarterback Tom Brady’s leg injury that was suffered during Wednesday afternoon’s joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Buccaneers defensive lineman Adrian Clayborne pushed Nate Solder in to Brady as the pocket collapsed. Brady immediately crumbled to the ground and grabbed his leg before leaving the practice. You can see video of the injury here.

While it is never easy to see your star quarterback rolling around on the ground in pain, Patriots president Jonathan Kraft delivered some relief during a radio appearance with Michael Felger & Tony Massarotti on 98.5 The Sports Hub following the practice.

From Adam Kaufman of Boston.com:

New England would obviously prefer to head in to the season with a healthy Tom Brady under center rather than Ryan Mallett or Tim Tebow, but it looks like he could be held out of the preseason as a precautionary measure as we await an official word on his injury.
