According to New York Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg says that the team’s quarterback competition could extend into the fourth and final pre-season game.

"“I supposed it’s possible. I would much rather have gotten it done earlier than now.” from Manish Metha’s twitter post."

Offensive coordinator praised both Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith on Thursday but neither has really separated themselves from each other in this battle for starting quarterback.

Ever since the draft started, it was obvious the Jets were going to draft a quarterback. I had Geno Smith going to the Buffalo Bills in my mock draft at the time and had Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib but the New York Giants selected him instead.

Sanchez was pretty excited about the quarterback position after the Jets selected Geno Smith in the draft. I mean he was either really excited or nervous and just wanted to play it off for the media. But right now it looks as if both players are neck and neck with a slight advantage being given to the veteran Sanchez.

So I will once again ask the New York Jets faithful this question. Who do you want starting for the New York Jets? Leave your opinion in the comment section below.
