With the recent Lamar DUI report, it’s time to ask ourselves this simple question: Is Lamar Odom done?
He’s an NBA champion. He’s been a great sixth man, winning the award in 2011. And while he’s not a great player, he’s a player that can do a little of everything on the court…when he’s focused. All his career it’s been the same thing with him. Right now, he’s a free agent. And understandably so. After initially thought to be missing, Odom recently showed up at home looking a wreck. At least he’s safe.
But on Friday, he was arrested for DUI. I don’t know what’s going on. And, as a guy whose middle name is Lamar, I feel a little bad for him.
Okay, so he’s 33 and a free agent. Is he worth the risk? What NBA team would be willing to fork over quite a bit of cash for his services only to worry if he’ll be around for practice or a game? It’s true he took a pay cut to play for a stacked Lakers team.
I say it’s over for the guy. At least for this upcoming 13-14 season. If he’s gonna come back, it’s because a team is willing to take the risk or he proves that he’s got his life back on track. Like I said earlier, he’s got focus issues on the court. Do we blame it on all the pre game candy? I don’t know. All I know is, at this age and stage of his career, you pretty much know what you’re getting.
I guess Lamar will have to settle for get a few seconds of air time with his wife and in-laws. Good luck Lamer. I’d hate to see him follow so many other athletes’ off the court problems. Ain’t that right, Mr. Beasley?
