The New England Patriots made 10 roster cuts on Friday afternoon as they get closer to the 53-man roster that they will need to set on Saturday and one of the players that was able to avoid the cuts was back up quarterback Tim Tebow, who many believe will be released before Saturday’s deadline.

The biggest names released be the tight ends Daniel Fells and Jake Ballard. This seems to indicate that the team is very happy with where Rob Gronkowski is in his recovery.

Here are all of the players who were released by New England today: tight end Jake Ballard, defensive end Marcus Benard, tight end Daniel Fells, receiver Johnathan Haggerty, linebacker Mike Rivera, offensive lineman Luke Patterson, fullback Ben Bartholomew, defensive lineman Gilbert Peña, offensive lineman Matt Stankiewitch and defensive lineman Scott Vallone.

New England will still need to make another 12 moves to get to the 53-man roster by Saturday afternoon’s deadline.

So while Tebow was able to avoid the first major cuts, he will still need to survive another 24 hours before he is able to celebrate making the final roster. It still doesn’t look very likely.
