The New England Patriots released quarterback Tim Tebow on Saturday as they cut down to their 53-man roster. There was little hope that Tebow would crack the Patriots final roster, but after a solid performance in his last pre-season game there was a little ray of hope for Tebow.

Tebow threw two touchdown passes in a win against the New York Giants on Thursday, but aside from those two passes it was a rough game for Tebow and he ultimately didn’t do enough to crack the roster.

When asked if he believed he had done enough to stick with the Patriots Tebow answered that he wasn’t sure because he doesn’t make those decisions. Tebow has become one of the most scrutinized athletes in last three seasons, from taking the Denver Bronco’s to the playoffs to become the butt of all jokes in New York, it hasn’t been an easy NFL ride for Tebow.

There hasn’t been much other interest for Tebow around the NFL and his days as a starting quarterback in the NFL may be over. You have to give Tim Tebow credit. He’s been over analyzed and mocked in the media and around league but he hasn’t quit, he’s resilient and determined to prove himself. Would he be willing to re-invent his game?

Tebow had a tremendous collegiate career in which he won two National Championships and a Heisman trophy which catapulted him to the first overall draft spot. He was taken first overall by the Denver Bronco’s but hasn’t been able to find much NFL success.

After being released by the Patriots it’s likely we’ve seen the last of Tim Tebow in the NFL. He’s received offers from the AFL and may end up there for next season. But for right now, Tebow time is over
