The Georgia Bulldogs lost their season-opener in a fun back-and-forth clash with the Clemson Tigers, but their offense took an even bigger hit on Saturday when star wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell suffered a serious knee injury that could have been avoided.

Mitchell injured himself by jumping during a celebration of Todd Gurley’s long touchdown run. He came down wrong and that ended his day. It was not initially known just how serious the injury was, but head coach Mark Richt has confirmed that Mitchell went down with a torn ACL.

Here is a video of the celebration where Mitchell injured his knee:

Talk about bad luck.

We think next time Gurley scores his teammates should just give him a celebratory tap on the helmet.
