New coach Mike Malone is out to bring a new level of energy to his roster. He wants to bring a new culture to this troubled team (and that’s ignoring the off the court drama).

Recently, we saw Michael Jordan dunk at age 50. Think of that when you think of Malone. He runs with these guys. He and his team go through the routines just as their players do. Their intention is to meet the players on an even level. It should help with communication among other things.

As I mentioned a little, the Kings’ organization has seen better days. Sometimes, the news about potential sales and stuff can make us forget, for a moment, that there’s still a bunch of players and coaches that still play the game. And, with the Kings playing so poorly in these post-Chris Webber days, the team and city could use some positive energy.

Let’s hope Malone can get through to DeMarcus Cousins. When he’s in tune to the game, he’s a beast. And, if Malone can get through to Cousins, Cousins has no choice but to be a top center in the league; maybe even be the best. That is going to be Malone’s greatest challenge.
