The New York Jets signed quarterback Brady Quinn after he was released by the Seattle Seahawks ahead of Saturday’s deadline for roster cuts. The Jets are looking at starting Geno Smith in week one as Mark Sanchez recovers from a shoulder injury he suffered from a hit in the third preseason game for the Jets while on the field with their second team unit.

ESPN New York’s Rich Cimini reported something similar Saturday.

"“Sanchez is listed as day-to-day with a bruised shoulder joint, but his availability for the opener remains in question. As of Saturday, he still hadn’t resumed throwing, although there was some talk about him giving it a try over the weekend. It’s possible that Sanchez could be down for a few weeks, as ESPN’s Ed Werder reported Friday.”"

The Jets could have a rough start to the season ahead of them as they sort out their quarterback situation.
