We are less than 48 hours away from the official start to Week One of the regular season and the New York Jets first depth chart has been released. There is still no clarity at the quarterback position — Mark Sanchez and rookie Geno Smith are listed as co-starters — but we finally know who came out on top in the Jets running back race.

Bilal Powell is the man who came in atop the depth chart in New York, which free agent signee Chris Ivory as the top back up.

The Jets are going to struggle to score points, but they do have some power in the backfield with Powell and Ivory. But while Powell may have been given the first start of the season, we would expect to see Ivory take over as the lead back in a matter of weeks.

Mike Goodson will also be the team’s third-down back whenever he returns from his fourth-game suspension.

It is the true definition of a running back by committee situation in New York.
