Starting quarterback Peyton Manning says that Julius Thomas will play a big role in the Broncos’ offense as the season moves on.

"“Well, we’ve had a number of injuries while you hate seeing your starters get injured, it does allow an opportunity for maybe an unknown to step up and get some reps with the first time and sort of show what he’s about. And we’ve had some injuries at tight end and Julius Thomas is a guy that I’m sure not many people know about but he has taken advantage of the repetitions he’s received with the first team. He’s an athlete, he’s a big guy that can really run and he really is taking advantage of the time with the starters and has made the most of it. I think he’ll play a big role for our team this year.” Peyton Manning told Pro Football Talk on NBCSN."

Last night’s season opener was coconuts. Yeah, that’s right I said coconuts. Manning throwing for seven touchdowns? Two of them going to a tight end who pretty much came out of nowhere. Thomas scored his first two career touchdowns last night in the victory of the Baltimore Ravens.

I figured last night Ray Lewis was possibly putting holes in every wall of his house after the poor performance by his former defense and if he did, I don’t blame him.

Thomas brought in five receptions for 110 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

I have a feeling we are gonna hear “Manning to Thomas for a touchdown” more than a few times this season.

So we might as well get used to the name.
