Heath Miller, Le’Veon Bell headline Pittsburgh Steelers inactives vs. Titans
By Matt Shetler
There weren’t many surprises when it comes to the inactive list for the Pittsburgh Steelers 2013 season opener against the Tennessee Titans.
The list is headlined by tight end Heath Miller (knee) and rookie running back Le’Veon Bell (knee) and also includes rookie quarterback Landry Jones, cornerback Antwon Blake, center Cody Wallace, defensive lineman Loni Fangupo and linebacker Vince Williams.
Miller, Williams and Bell will likely be on the inactive list the first couple weeks of the season as both are recovering from injuries and the other inactives don’t come as much of a shock.
Bell is ahead of schedule from the foot injury although it may still be a few weeks before he is worked into the regular rotation, leaving Isaac Redman and Felix Jones to carry the load while LaRod Stephens-Howling should see some time as the third down back.
As for Miller, who is coming off of ACL surgery in December, the tight end is way ahead of schedule, but probably won’t return to action until after the bye week the fifth week of the season.
For the Titans, the following players are inactive: center Brian Schwenke, offensive lineman Byron Stingily, rookie wide receiver Justin Hunter, defensive lineman Keyunta Dawson, defensive lineman Lavar Edwards, wide receiver Michael Preston and linebacker Zaviar Gooden.
