The New England Patriots barely squeaked out a win over the Buffalo Bills, despite controlling most of the game. The problem for the Pats was the fact that the team struggled to hang on to the ball and multiple turnovers allowed the Bills to stay in the game.

One of the players who contributed the most to the turnover woes was running back Stevan Ridley, who contributed two early fumbles — one went back over 70-yards for a touchdown.

After his second fumble and the Bills score, Ridley was benched by head coach Bill Belichick.

In relief off Ridley, Shane Vereen stepped up big with 159 total yards on 21 touches.

Ridley opened up about his benching following the game and he vowed to work harder and work his way towards regaining the trust of his team and coaching staff.

“Absolutely. Two turnovers, I was out of there the rest of the game,” Ridley said, via WEEI.com. “Hey, I’m not going to pout about it, just keep grinding.”

That is the right attitude to have.

With a strong showing in practice, Ridley should get another crack at the starting job and this time he will be running with a chip on his shoulder.
