Detroit Lions new running back Reggie Bush was the highlight of the game. Bush collected 191 all-purpose yards through the air and on the ground yesterday and scored a touchdown. In goal line situations though back up Joique Bell stepped in. The Detroit Free Press says that “Bush is clearly the Lions’ feature back this year, but Bell should be a weapon on the goal line.”

Bell had a pretty solid day for a back up, he had 5 catches for 67 yards and 25 yards on the ground with two touchdowns. One of those touchdowns came after a Reggie Bush touchdown was called back.

“Reggie, he’s a great teammate,” Bell said. “He’s a force to be reckoned with when he’s out there on the field even if he’s getting the ball or being a decoy.”

Before the season started he was already earning head coach Jim Schwartz’s praise.

“He’s strong and he’s got very good balance,” coach Jim Schwartz said. “He’s very hard to bring down. He’s not the fastest guy in the world, but he’s certainly not slow.

“He’s done a nice job, both in the pass game and the run game, and I thought we saw that from him last year, too. It’s just a continuation of what we saw last year.”

Bell didn’t let his coach down.
