The first touchdown of the day in the entire NFL was from Cincinnati Bengals rookie running back Giovani Bernard, who took a hand-off from the 3-yard line and plunged into the endzone to hive Cincinnati an early 7-0 lead.
The Packers then turned the ball over on the ensuing kickoff, and BenJarvus Green-Ellis punched it in for the score. The Bengals now hold a 14-0 lead before Aaron Rogers has even taken the field.
You couldn’t have scripted a better start for Cincinnati today, and now the defense, for at least the first couple of drives, doesn’t have to play with the weight of the world on the shoulders feeling as though they have to stop the red-hot Packers offense immediately to win.
On the Packers’ first offensive possession, tight end Jermichael Finley was injured after taking a big hit on his neck, and looks like he may have suffered a concussion.
Finley has 11 catches for 121 yards and two touchdowns already this season. He had six receptions for 65 yards in a Week 2 win over the Washington Redskins, including a 27-yard touchdown reception.
