This past Sunday Dez Bryant was assessed a 15-yard penalty unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. After scoring a touchdown he did a throat slashing gesture after his usual ‘X’ celebration where he crosses his arms.

“I shouldn’t have done it anyway,” said Bryant, via ESPN Dallas. “I never put anything with the X. Do the X and go on.”

Bryant also said he planned to appeal the fine if he were to receive one. After receiving the penalty in the game, Dez Bryant ran over to head coach Jason Garrett to apologize.

“He said, ‘I screwed up. I’m sorry. It’s just a reaction I had. I won’t do it again,’” Garrett said. “What do you say to that? Let’s go to the next one.”

His season hasn’t gotten off to quite the start he had hoped for, but it hasn’t been bad either. So far he has 17 receptions for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns. Most of those yards though came in the 141 yard performance against the Kansas City Chiefs. In the other two games he was limited to 38 and 22 yards each.

The Chargers are the statistically worst team against the pass in the league so he could get another big game Sunday.
