The Green Bay Packers lost rookie starting running back Eddie Lacy in mid-September after he took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather. Lacy was forced from the game and was ultimately diagnosed with a concussion, but now he is preparing for his return to the field.

Lacy was a full participant in practice every day of the week as he gets ready to suit up against the NFC North rival Detroit Lions on Sunday. He is officially listed as probable.

While the Lacy is news is obviously a positive for the Packers, there was some additional news that will give yet another boost to the backfield.

Back up running back and fellow rookie Jonathan Franklin, who has been dealing with a foot injury, is also listed as probable for this week’s game. Like Lacy, Franklin was able to get rolling during practice this week.

The Packers will now hope that they can count more on their backfield than they have in previous weeks.
