It doesn’t get any better than do-or-die baseball in the postseason. Last night, the St. Louis Cardinals were able to rally behind their home crowd to knock off the Pittsburgh Pirates in the final game of the NLDS, so the Athletics will be hoping to come away with the same success tonight when they host the Detroit Tigers.

Justin Verlander takes the mound in Game 5 of the ALDS in Oakland for the second straight year. Last season, the Tigers road a four-hit shutout performance by Verlander in the same situation to the ALCS, but the Athletics are determined to avoid that same fate.

To take on Verlander, Sonny Gray gets the start for Oakland. The two had a fantastic pitching duel just a few days ago and this sets up for an exciting finish to the series.
