Rick Nash injury update: New York Rangers place winger on IR
The 2013-14 NHL season has been forgettable so far for the New York Rangers, and the most recent Rick Nash injury update has only made matters worse. According to various sources, Nash is still “feeling symptoms” from the head shot he received from Brad Stuart of the San Jose Sharks.
Stuart was suspended for three games for the hit, while the Rangers sent Nash back to New York for further evaluation after the incident. The conclusion must be made that the results of those evaluations weren’t positive, as the Rangers placed Nash on the IR earlier today.
Various members of the Rangers will need to dig deep without Nash in the lineup to pick up the scoring slack. The team is in desperate need of a boost right now, but it won’t come in the form of their best sniper. He was at the practice facility with the rest of the squad today, but didn’t take place in any activities.
New York is currently discussing it’s call-up options, and will likely attempt to add a little bit more talent in the lineup with Nash set to miss some time. The options include J.T. Miller and Chris Kreider, who have both been solid in the AHL so far this season.
