Packers WR James Jones Not Practicing Wednesday

The Green Bay Packers are extremely shorthanded with their wide receivers with the news that Randall Cobb was done for the year with a broken leg, but James Jones is unable to practice today as well with a sprained PCL reportedly, but the Packers have not confirmed anything to this point.  At this point, Jones’ status is unclear for their game this week against the Cleveland Browns, but without him, the Packers are left with Jordy Nelson and Jermichael Finley to carry much of the workload.  The next man up might be Jarrett Boykin should Jones be unable to play and he has one catch so far this season.

The good news for the Packers might be their running game behind Eddie Lacy who is coming off a pair of nice games against the Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions.  Nevertheless, Aaron Rodgers is the man who makes the Packers go and not having weapons would make it easier for the Browns to have a shot to slow down the Green Bay offense.  The Browns defense is coming off a disappointing performance against the Lions but has been strong for the most part this season, so how the Packers offense functions this week could be worth watching and the Browns may be able to keep it closer than some might thnk.

Head coach Mike McCarthy may have more details on Jones when he has his media availability, but to this point, Jones’ status is questionable at this point.   The Packers and Rodgers in particular are hoping he will be able to go this week.
